Westchester County Locksmith: The 12 Towns We Cover
Larchmont Locksmith NY works in twelve towns at the southern end of Westchester County: Larchmont, Mamaroneck, New Rochelle, Rye, Harrison and Port Chester along the Sound Shore, Pelham, Bronxville, Tuckahoe and Eastchester on the side closest to the Bronx, and Scarsdale and White Plains to the north. Two of our three technicians live in Larchmont. The third lives at the edge of the Bronx. Between them, most of these towns are close to where someone on the team already lives, and you can call any hour.
Westchester is not one market. An older Tudor in Larchmont Manor and a new apartment tower in downtown New Rochelle fail in different ways, and it helps to know which kind of problem you have before you pick up the phone.
How the map works
Think of the coverage as two home bases rather than one shop.
The first is Larchmont itself. Two technicians live in the village, which sits inside the Town of Mamaroneck on Long Island Sound, between New Rochelle and the Village of Mamaroneck. From there, Mamaroneck and New Rochelle are next door, and Rye and Harrison are a short drive up the Sound Shore. Boston Post Road and I-95 tie those towns together, and most Sound Shore addresses sit within reach of one or the other.
The second is the edge of the Bronx, where the third technician lives. That puts him close to Pelham and Pelham Manor, New Rochelle, and the three Eastchester communities: Bronxville, Tuckahoe and Eastchester itself. New Rochelle appears on both lists because it is the big city sitting between the two bases.
Scarsdale, White Plains and Port Chester are on the list too. They are a little further from either base, which is worth knowing if you live there and like to plan ahead.
Distance is only part of the picture. Traffic decides the rest. I-95 at rush hour and the Hutchinson River Parkway on a Friday afternoon can turn a short hop into a slow one, so ask whoever answers the phone for a realistic estimate. Be wary of anyone who promises an exact arrival time before they know where you are.
The Sound Shore: Larchmont and the towns next door
Larchmont
Larchmont is mostly older Tudor and colonial houses, and many still have original mortise locks, or a deadbolt someone added decades later to a door that was never built for one. A typical call is a house lockout off Chatsworth Avenue or Palmer Avenue, an old lock that has stuck for years and finally quit, or a homeowner who wants a keypad on a thick old front door. The Larchmont locksmith page covers the village, Larchmont Manor and the streets around Flint Park. If the old-door question is yours, there is a separate guide to fitting smart locks on older Tudor and colonial doors.
Mamaroneck
The Village of Mamaroneck sits partly in the Town of Mamaroneck and partly in the Town of Rye, and its harbour shapes its lock problems. Salt air near Harbor Island Park and the Orienta shore wears on exterior cylinders, and when the Mamaroneck and Sheldrake rivers flood the low streets, water and grit get into locks that then stiffen as they dry. For homes and shops along Mamaroneck Avenue and the harbour, the Mamaroneck locksmith page has the local detail.
New Rochelle
New Rochelle is really two places for a locksmith. Downtown, near the Metro-North station, the newer high-rise apartment buildings mean apartment lockouts, where the front desk or management office may be part of the answer. Out in Wykagyl, Beechmont and Davenport Neck it is houses again, with house problems: back doors, garage entries and worn deadbolts. Locksmith help in New Rochelle is close to both of our home bases.
Rye
Rye has a downtown along Purchase Street and residential streets running out toward Milton Point and Playland. A common call there is the new-house rekey. Someone has just closed on a house, has no idea how many keys the seller handed out over the years, and wants every exterior lock set to a new key. Lock rekeying does that without replacing the hardware, and the Rye locksmith page covers the rest of the city.
Harrison
Harrison includes the village, West Harrison and the hamlet of Purchase, with a station on the New Haven Line. Lost car keys are a classic Harrison problem. You come off the evening train, your keys are somewhere between Grand Central and the platform, and your car is sitting in the commuter lot. Car key replacement handles that, and the Harrison locksmith page covers homes and businesses in town.
Port Chester
Port Chester sits on the Connecticut border, with Greenwich across the Byram River. It is the densest town on this list: storefronts along Main Street and Westchester Avenue, apartments above many of them, and multifamily houses on the side streets. That makes it a town of roll-down gates, storefront door cylinders and landlords changing keys between tenants. The Port Chester locksmith page has more, and our commercial lock services cover the shop side.
Closest to the Bronx: Pelham, Bronxville, Tuckahoe and Eastchester
Pelham
The Town of Pelham contains two villages, Pelham and Pelham Manor, and Pelham Manor borders the Bronx at Pelham Bay Park. With the third technician living at the edge of the Bronx, Pelham is close to home for him. A typical call there is a house lockout or an older residential lock that needs attention, on streets either side of the Hutchinson River Parkway. See Pelham locksmith coverage.
Bronxville
Bronxville, a village in the Town of Eastchester, is known for Lawrence Park, a historic district of older houses, many of them Tudor revival. Those houses often keep original mortise locks with heavy trim, and the usual question is how to repair a sticking or worn lock without throwing out hardware that suits the house. The Bronxville locksmith page goes into it.
Tuckahoe
Tuckahoe is another village in the Town of Eastchester, with a Harlem Line station and apartment and co-op buildings near it. That means shared entry doors, building rules about who may change a lock, and lockouts where the super or managing agent has a say. The Tuckahoe locksmith page has the details.
Eastchester
The Town of Eastchester holds Bronxville, Tuckahoe and unincorporated Eastchester, and the unincorporated part is largely residential. Calls there tend to be the everyday house kind: a lock that will not turn, a key that snapped in the cylinder, a family that wants every door on one key. Eastchester locksmith service covers the whole town.
Further north: Scarsdale and White Plains
Scarsdale
Scarsdale has large single-family houses in neighbourhoods like Fox Meadow, Heathcote and Quaker Ridge, and a Tudor-style village centre by the Harlem Line station. Big houses have more doors and more ways in, so high-security locks with key control tend to come up there: keys that cannot be copied at a hardware counter without the owner's say-so. Start with the Scarsdale locksmith page, and read about high-security locks if key control is the concern.
White Plains
White Plains is the county seat and the most urban town on the list, with office towers downtown, retail along Mamaroneck Avenue, the county courthouse and a major Harlem Line station. Calls split between apartment lockouts and office work such as master key systems and key control after staff leave. The White Plains locksmith page covers both.
What to tell a locksmith when you call, from any town
Lockouts are the most urgent call in every one of these towns, so it is worth knowing what helps. Our emergency lockout service covers homes, cars and businesses, and the call goes better with a few facts ready.
- The exact address and a cross street. In downtown New Rochelle or White Plains, add the building name, the entrance and the apartment number.
- What is locked, and with what. A knob lock that clicked shut behind you is a different job from a deadbolt that was locked with a key. If you know the brand, say it.
- Anything urgent inside. If a child is alone inside, someone needs medication, or something is on the stove, call 911 first. A locksmith is the second call.
- Proof that you live there. A careful locksmith should ask before opening a door. A driver's license with the address, a lease or a utility bill on your phone all help. If your wallet is inside, say so up front.
- The total. Ask what the job will cost in full before work starts, and do not agree to anything open-ended.
If you are standing outside a locked house right now, the step-by-step version is in our guide to being locked out of a house in Larchmont. It applies just as well in Pelham or Port Chester.

Frequently asked questions
Which technician comes to my town?
It depends on where everyone is when you call. As a rule of geography, the two technicians who live in Larchmont are next door to Mamaroneck and New Rochelle and a short drive from Rye and Harrison, and the technician at the edge of the Bronx is close to Pelham, Pelham Manor, New Rochelle, Bronxville, Tuckahoe and Eastchester.
Can I call in the middle of the night?
Yes. The service runs 24/7, so you can call any hour. Ask for an honest estimate of when someone can reach you, since late-night roads and rush-hour roads are very different.
Do you work on cars and businesses, or only houses?
All three. Car lockouts and car key replacement, storefront and office locks, master key systems and access control are part of the same service list as house lockouts, rekeying and new deadbolts.
What if my town is not on the list?
The twelve towns here are the ones with their own pages. If you live just outside them, call and ask. The answer depends on the job, the hour and where everyone is.
What should I have ready before I call?
The full address with a cross street, a description of the lock, and some way to show the place is yours. If anyone inside is in danger, call 911 before you call a locksmith.
Save the number now, while nothing is wrong: Larchmont Locksmith NY, (914) 255-6611, any hour, in any of the twelve towns above.
